Madurai, Jun 17 (UNI) Two new meet records have been created in the Men's and Women's 3,000 metres Steeple Chase events on the third day of the Velammal 48th National Inter-State Seniors Athletics Championship-2008, here this evening.
Golden girl O P Jaisha of Kerala set the new meet record in the Women's 3,000m Steeple Chase event with a timing of 10:20.15, erasing the previous meet record hold by Indian star athlete S Shanthi (Tamil Nadu) 10:44.65. Sudha Singh of Jharkhand took the Silver medal clocking 10:29.94, which was a better meet record.
Uttarakhand's Kiran Tiwari finished third with a timing of 10:51.42.
In Men's section, O M Prakash of Gujarat set a new meet record clocking 8:46.92, surpassing the previous meet record of 8:50.71 held by Arun D'Souza of Andhra Pradesh.
Chasing Prakash, Jharkhand's Elam Singh too set a new meet record in the event in a close finish with a timing of 8:47.37 and took the Silver medal. Ravinder Khade of Gujarat clocked 9:28.79 to bag the Bronze medal.

Men's Javelin Throw: Kashi Nath Nayak (Jharkhand) 72.22m Amit Majumdar ( Bihar ) 70.32m Anil Kumar (Haryana) 69.01m.
Men's 800m Run: Prakash Verma ( Delhi ) 1:51.58 sec Naresh Yadav ( Gujarat ) 1:51.77 sec K.J.Arun (Kerala) 1:52.15 sec.
Women's 800m Run: Vijila.A (Kerala) 2:06.80 sec Sunita ( Delhi ) 2:07.73 Priyanka Singh Patel (Uttar Pradesh) 2:09.77 sec.
