Lahore, June 17 : Sikhs participating in the celebrations of the 402nd death anniversary of their fifth guru Arjan Dev Ji, vociferously protested against a member of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) for entering the Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore, wearing shoes.

Nearly 1000 Sikh pilgrims from across the world, including Pakistan, and most of them being from India, demanded that the ETPB member Ashraf Ali Khawaja be thrown out of the Gurudwara for entering the sacred place wearing shoes.

The incident happened in the presence of ETPB Chairman Muhammad Javed, who was the chief guest of the ceremony.

The agitated Sikhs alleged that Khawaja had entered the area where Guru Granth Sahib was kept in the Gurudwara. They said that Khawaja also forced many Sikhs to leave their places for him.

When the situation worsened, the ETPB chairman asked Khawaja to leave the Gurdwara.
