SC says HMA breaking homes instead of preserving them
New Delhi, Jun 17 (UNI) In an important observation the Supreme Court today said the provisions of Hindu Marriage Act have proved counter-productive and have broken more homes than it had kept together.
The observations were made by Justice Arijit Pasayat, the presiding judge of vacation bench during the hearing of a matrimonial dispute. In the dispute husband Gaurav Nagpal had come in to appeal against Delhi High Court order, directing him to hand over the custody of his eight-year old child to the mother Sumedha Nagpal.
The apex court will hear both the parties at 1430 hrs today in judges' chamber.
Other judge on the bench was Justice G S Singhvi.
