HP to consider construction of tunnel between Karsog and Janjehli
Shimla, Jun 17 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today said his government would explore possibilities of the construction of a tunnel between Karsog Valley and Janjehli to give boost to tourism and inter-connect the valleys.
Addressing a public meeting at Janjehli, in Gohar sub-division of Mandi district after inaugurating the Trekkers Hut, completed at a cost of Rs. 42.16 lakh, late last evening, he said the government was committed to give tourism a boost.
Mr Dhumal said tunneling projects were being explored at different destinations in the state to be executed in a phased manner to reduce distances and create quality roads infrastructure.
Top priority was being accorded to road construction and funds were no constraint in building infrastructural facilities, he added.
He said the state government was opening more degree colleges in public-private participation in Mandi, Solan, Hamirpur and Una districts of the state.
Though Himachal already had two government medical colleges in the state, possibilities were being explored to open four more medical colleges in public-private participation, he said.
He said efforts were being made to create vast employment avenues to the educated unemployed youth in the state in public and private sectors.
Asserting that government was also committed to provide more employment opportunities to the youth of the state, he said the state government would soon fill 28,000 posts in various departments, majority of which would be in the education sector.
