Heroin worth Rs 14.4 cr seized, four held
Mumbai, Jun 17 (UNI) The Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Mumbai Police today seized 11.700 kg of 'heroin' worth Rs 14.4 crore in the international market at Chembur Naka in North East Mumbai and arrested four people in this connection.
Addressing mediapersons here today, Joint Commissioner of Police Hemant Karkare said ANC officials had received information that a group of people would be coming to deliver heroin to a party at Chembur Naka this morning.
A team of ANC officials laid a trap at the specified place. When a group of people came in an autorickshaw, the informer identified them and gave signal to the waiting police team.
Police had identified four accused as Hanif Samad, Parasmal Nathaji, Mohammed Ayub and Rajesh Varma.
Police are investigating the case on the lines of whether the gang has any connection with the international drug mafia who supply drugs to Mumbai, Mr Karkare added.
