Klagenfurt(Austria), June 17: Croatia ended their march through Group B with an unblemished record after posting a 1-0 win over Poland on Monday in Klagenfurt. Ivan Klasnic hit the game winner in the 52nd minute.
With a spot in the quarterfinals secured, Croatia head coach Slaven Bilic had the luxury to rest key players and shuffled his line up and retained only two players from the starting XI against Germany. The game would have been a lopsided affair if not for Poland goalkeeper Artur Boruc. The Poland number 1 made key saves throughout the match to keep Polands slim hopes alive. Klasnić ended those dreams early in the second half, however. After creating an opening, left-back Danijel Pranjić found Klasnić in the penalty area and Klasnić gave Boruc no chance sending the ball back across the GK and into the far corner.
Poland did not give up and had several opportunities to level the match only to see shots go narrowly wide or for Croatian goalkeeper Vedran Runje to make the save.
