Deployment of IRB violates jail rules: Association
Puducherry, Jun 17 (UNI) President of the Confederation of the Puducherry State Government Employees Association C H Balamohanan today said placing IRB personnel for the jail administration was illegal and against the jail manual.
Addressing a press conference here, he said right now 50 IRB personnel were deployed in the prison where only 175 prisoners could be accomodated in the prison.
However, the present strength of prisoners were 275 and at least 100 wardens would be needed to supervise them, he said, adding that the present number of wardens were very less and posts of the Deputy Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of jails were also vaccant.
Alleging that the present IG of the Prisons had scrapped the right of jail staff to form an association, he said even Tihar jail had a staff association.
