CMZ will not make Mumbai an international city: Deshmukh
Mumbai, Jun 17 (UNI) Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today said if the coastal management zone (CMZ) was implemented, then the dream of making Mumbai an international city would never materialise.
''Due to the notification about CMZ, the development of the city and other coastal areas will be halted,'' he said after a meeting with the officials of CIDCO, MMRDA, BMC and Urban development department.
In the meeting, the officials informed him that notification would have a major effect on the development of Mumbai.
Mr Deshmukh appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to call a meeting of the chief ministers of all the concerned states on the CMZ. He also appealed for extending the time limit for sending objections so that all the legislators will have an opportunity to discuss the same in the monsoon session.
