London, Jun 17 : Troubled singer Amy Winehouse was rushed to hospital in her horrified dad's taxi after she fainted and tumbled down a flight of stairs.
Winehouse is said to have collapsed at home shortly after signing autographs for fans, shocking her friends, who rang 999. An ambulance was sent to her place and paramedics treated the singer. Even though the Back to Black singer was given the all clear, an anxious 57-year-old Mitch remained concerned and took his daughter to a clinic for further examination. As revealed last night she had sprained her ankle falling down the steps in Camden, North London, and doctors decided to keep her in overnight as they carried out tests to find out why she had passed out.
"Amy was at home when she briefly fainted. Fortunately her manager's assistant was there," the Sun quoted a spokesman for the star as saying.
"She quickly recovered and her father Mitch took her to hospital as a precaution," the spokesman said.
"Doctors are unsure of the cause of the incident and Amy is undergoing tests," an onlooker said.
"Amy seemed fine earlier. She was laughing with a group of girl fans.
"Then she went inside and the ambulance turned up," the onlooker added.
