Mumbai, Jun 17 (UNI) In an interesting development, a prosecution witness, in his deposition before TADA court, today said he had no idea of the 1993 serial bomb blasts here and he came to know about it after one year through one of his friends.
During his cross-examination by defence Advocate H H Ponda, the witness number 7 told TADA Judge D U Mulla that during the period from 1989 to 1995, he was in Dubai and in 1994, he was on a visit to Saudi Arabia, where he was told by a friend that some blasts took place in Mumbai.
The witness also told the court that during his stay in Dubai, he had met underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his brother Anees Ibrahim but he was not aware that they were involved in any criminal activities in India.
He further said he neither read newspapers nor watched TV.
Therefore, he had no knowledge of the blasts and also about Dawood and others criminal activities.
Replying to a question, the witness admitted that he was convicted by the MCOCA court for his alleged links with the members of Dawood gang in the Sara-Sahara shopping complex case, but an appeal to this effect was filed in the Bombay High Court.
