16-member team for Asian Junior Wrestling Championship

Patiala, Jun 17 (UNI) A sixteen member team including eight women will represent India in the Asian Junior Wrestling Championship to be held in Doha from July 4 to 6.

The women wrestlers will take part in the free style competition whil the Men grapplers have been picked up for the Greco Roman event.

The team: Greco-Roman(men) 50 kg Shiv Shankar (Ser), 55 kg Hari Krishan (Pun), 60 kg Bansi Lal (Raj), 66 kg Rana (Har), 74 kg Rajbir Chikara (Rly), 84 Kg Vivek Yadav (Mah), 96 kg Gangandeep (Pun) and 120 kg Rohtash (UP).

Freestyle (women) 44 kg Priyanka Singh (Pun), 48 kg Sweta (Dli), 51 kg Anju Chowdhary (UP), 55 kg Gargi Yadav (UP), 59 kg Geeta, 63 kg Suman Kundu, 67 kg Nirmala and 72 kg Anmol ( all Haryana) After the selection, Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) secretary-general Kartar Singh, told UNI that he was very much impressed by the junior men and women grapplers, though,''I do not expect too much from them since the wrestling standard in Asia is very high.''
