Rupee ends flat at 42.95/96 per USD
Mumbai, June 16 (UNI) The Rupee today closed almost flat at 42.95/96 against the US Dollar, as compared to its previous close of 42.94/95, despite good gains in the stock market.
The Indian Currency started firm against the greenback at 42.86/87 after closing at 42.96/97 per dollar in the previous session on positive cues in local equity market. Later, it shed its gains and touched an intraday low at 42.98 per dollar and ultimately settled flat in late trade, amid lacklustre activities in the interbank foreign exchange market, dealers said.
Dealers also maintained that the Rupee is likely to remain near the level of 43.00 per dollar in the future sessions.
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today fixed the reference rate for US Dollar at Rs 42.90 per unit, three paise up as compared to previous rate Rs 42.87 per unit.
Meanwhile, the six-month and annualised premium was quoted lower at 2.90 (3.20) per cent and 2.58 (2.73) per cent, respectively.
Rupee ended the day weaker at 66.43/44 (65.79/80) per unit against Euro. It closed at 84.33 (83.49) per unit against the Pound Sterling and ended firm at 39.67/68 (39.63/64) per hundred units against the Japanese Yen.
