Police foils naxal explosion bid; two held

Lucknow, Jun 16 (UNI) Police today foiled a bid to explode a police chowki and held two naxalites with a haul of explosives in Machi area of Sonbhadra district.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of police and PAC cordoned off the jungles at Badaila village and held two naxalites, Suresh alais Thunni Chero and Pokhriya, official sources said.

The duo were heading towards Machi area to explode the under-construction police chowki.

Suresh belonged to Rohtas district of Bihar, whereas Pokhriya was of Kone area in Sonbhadra district.

About 18 Geliton rods and 43 detonators were seized from their possession.

A case had been registered and investigations were underway.
