Mumbai, Jun 16 (UNI) Maharashtra deputy chief minister R R Patil today said police will henceforth use plastic bullets to control agitations and mob violence.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting attended by DGP A N Roy and other senior officials. The meeting also discussed the usage of water canons to quell mobs.
In the meeting, it was also decided to replace the old .303 rifle and 0.419 musket with modern weapons step by step.
The meeting also approved a plan of Rs 58 crore for the purchase of new weapons and ammunitions.
