No change in stand on Women's Reservation Bill: Cong
New Delhi, Jun 16 (UNI) The Congress today strongly denied reports that it was willing to dilute the Women's Reservation Bill pending in Parliament, stating that the party was committed to 33 per cent quota for women in legislatures.
The government, particularly the Congress, was arriving at a political consensus for the passage of the Bill. In this connection, various parties had suggested their proposals and these suggestions were on the negotiating table.
However, this could not be construed as Congress' willingness for reducing the percentage of reservation, AICC spokesman Manish Tiwari told reporters.
''We are committed to the Women's Reservation Bill in its entirety...There is absolutely no change,'' he said.
