Mumbai, Jun 16 (UNI) There is no better motivation for an athlete than having your national flag hoisted in a foreign country, ace shooter Gagan Narang said here today.
Narang was speaking at a function to announce his signing up with the Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ) in an attempt to find India their first individual Gold medal at the Olympics.
Olympic Gold Quest also announced the signing of athlete Tintu Luka for atleast till 2012. The OGQ will meet the shortfall of funds for these two athletes from what they get from the federations.
Narang, speaking about his chances in Beijing, said that he is confident of a good show. ''It all depends on how you handle the pressure on that given day. I have been performing consistently and OGQ has given me a big boost to put in a good performance.'' Narang said, ''Having shot at the Beijing range before I have an idea on how the range is. I will be making a mental picture of it in my mind while training.'' On his training for the Olympics, Narang said that tomorrow they are of to Hanover in Germany, for training till July 13, as the facilities there are better. From there they will go to Malaysia for acclimitization performances before reaching Beijing around six days before.
