ISTE to organise international conference on quality education
Chennai, Jun 16 (UNI) The Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE), a strategic partner of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), has decided to organise its first International Conference in association with Asia-Pacific countries to develop the quality of technical education.
Talking to newspersons after the Society's 90th executive committee meeting held at RMK Engineering college, near here, last evening, Mr N R Shetty, President, ISTE, said, ''Engineering education, qsuality and accreditation'' would be the theme of the international conference.
The three-day conference would be held at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Bhubaneswar from December 19 to 21 and would be sponsored by the International Federation of Engineering Edcuation Society, he said.
Delegates from the United States, Europe and Asia Pacific region countries like Thailand, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, besides India were expected to take part in the conference, he said.
The conference would focus on securing the accreditation of Washington based American Board of Engineering Technology (ABET) for Indian Engineers, which would help them to practise in any part of the world, Mr Shetty said.
ISTE, the premier national society for teachers and students of the National Technical Education (NTE) had 1,580 institutional members, 57,420 life members and 1.6 lakh student members.
Society had been working for the welfare of the faculty, non faculty and stduents of engineering and polytechnic institutions in the country besides developing the quality of technical education in alliance with AICTE, he said.
