ICC to unveil Champions Trophy on Jun 18

New Delhi, Jun 16 (UNI) As the top eight teams of the world are gearing up to take on each other in a couple of months from now, the ICC Champions Trophy 2008 will be unveiled in Pearl Continental in Lahore, Pakistan on Wednesday.

ICC's acting Chief Executive Officer David Richardson, PCB Chief Operating Officer Shafqat Naghmi and Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik will be present in the ceremony.

The prestigious event will be staged in September and will be spread over three cities - Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi.

The eight teams in the tournament have been divided into two groups according to their seedings in the ICC ODI Championship table.

While 'Group A' will include Australia, India, Pakistan and the West Indies,--South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and England will fight it out in 'Group B'.

Each side plays all other sides in its group with the top two teams from each group progressing to the semi-finals.

The final will be take place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, which also hosted the 1996 World Cup final.

The other venues, Karachi and Rawalpindi, will host the two semi-finals.
