Four kg heroin found near Indo-Pak border in Punjab
Amritsar, June 16 (UNI) In a joint operation, the Punjab Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) recovered four kg heroin near Kakkar Border Outpost (BOP) close to the Indo Pakistan border this morning.
Amritsar Rural SSP Iqbal Singh stated that the heroin packets, four in number were dug out from a field between the barbed wire fence and the zero. These had been smuggled from Pakistan and were to be recovered by a drug carrier or carriers active on this side of the border, he said while refering to the 'conceal and retrieve' approach that smugglers adopt for small quantaties of heroin.
The SSP said that the operation was conducted on certain inputs gathered by the police. So far no arrests had been made and the matter is being investigated.
