Kolhapur, Jun 16 (UNI) The indefinite 'dharna' agitation, launched by child workers in front of the district collector's office here since World Child Day, was called off today.
The agitation, launched under the banner of 'Balhakka Abhiyan Aanghatana (Kolhapur), was led by Anuradha Bhosale of Awani, an NGO working for the rescue and rehabiliatation of child labourers.
About 30 children, working in sectors like brick-laying, rag-picking, construction, textile and other sectors had participated in the agitation by squatting day and night in a tin shed outside the collectorate here since World Child Day.
The children called off the agitation after district collector Mr Jadhav assured them to solve their problems at the district level.
The children's demands included education and other facilities, job opportunities to their parents and BPL ration cards among othere.
