BJYM activist injured in police action
Kozhikode, Jun 16: A Bharathiya Janata Yuva Morcha activist sustained injuries when police burst teargas shells to disperse an angry mob of protesters, demanding take over of Government land ''illegelly held'' by Indian Union Muslim League leader Abdul Vahab, MP, in the district today.
Police said the trouble began when the protesters, numbering about 80, started marching towards Indus Motors, a Maruti showroom owned by Mr Vahab at Cheruvannur, breaking police cordon, forcing them to take action.
BJYM district committee member Rajesh, who sustained injuries in the incident, was admitted to a private hospital.
The Indus Motor had reportedly acquired about 12 acres of Government land owned by the now defunct West India Steel Company at a prime locality in the city.
