AICC observers ask party workers to make membership drive a success
Baripada, Jun 16 (UNI) AICC observers Harish Arora and H Saini, presently on a hectic tour to remote rural areas of tribal Mayurbhanj district, have urged party activists to make the ongoing special membership drive - a total success.
Both Mr Arora and Mr Saini asked the Congress functionaries to strengthen the party's support bases at the grassroot levels and turn Mayurbhanj into a Congress bastion.
According to the DCC sources here, the special membership drive was launched at a meeting here yesterday in the presence of the two AICC observers.
The meeting also slammed the BJD-BJP alliance government in Orissa for its failures on all fronts, including its failures in implementing the centrally sponsored developmental programmes.
It also made a scathing criticism for the rampant corruption prevailing during the BJD-BJP rule and decided to expose them at a rally scheduled to be held at Bhubaneswar on June 20.
Senior Congress members, Saraswati Hembrom, Bijan Das, Jyotiprakash Rath, Aravinda Das, Kabita Nayak, and Youth Congress president Pravashkar Mohapatra were present at the meeting.
The AICC observers today went to Saraskona, Betnoti, Dukura, Mantri, Khunta and other remote tribal areas to oversee the special membership drive and to interact with party members at grassroot levels, the DCC sources added.
