451 cases of meningitis recorded in Meghalaya
Shillong, Jun 16: Altogether 451 cases of meningococcal meningitis have been registered in Meghalaya so far since the onset of the monsoons this year, state Health department sources said here today.
The Health department has been monitoring the situation regularly and taking up measures to prevent the spread of the disease, the sources added.
Meanwhile, medical experts stated that meningitis, enteritis and other such diseases were far more rampant and spread rapidly in the dry and warm weather during the summer.
However, during the monsoons, the disease could be checked effectively as the wet and humid conditions were not conducive to the spread of the disease.
