Chennai, Jun 15 (UNI) As part of its endeavour to achieve brand image, India Yamaha Motor rolled out its glitzy sports vehicle 'Super Sports YZF-R15,' amid fanfare.
Aptly, the sports bike, touted to be the fastest two wheeler in India, was launched at the Madras Motor Sports Club's modern race track at Irungattukottai, about 40 km from here, last evening.
A special test ride session was organised on the race track for the first time.
Targetted at the youth having passion for speed thrill, the 150 cc bike was priced at Rs 97,450 at ex-showroom could reach a speed of 146 km per hour.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Yukata Terada, Yamaha Group Head-Dealer Development and Planning, said India was an important market for the company which had received positive response from customers for the new YZF-R15.
''In Chennai alone, the booking for the new bike has crossed 500 units,'' he said, adding, Yamaha was reemerging in India with best of products in bike technology for the local market.
The event, loaded with full of fun and entertainment, including a breathtaking stunt sequence by Japanese riders, culminated with a lucky draw and Kollywood actor Madhavan gave away the prizes to the winners.
