Top HM commander and his associate killed in souh Kashmir
Srinagar, Jun 15 (UNI) A top commander of the Hizbul Mujahideen(HM) and his associate, who were holed up in a house in south Kashmir for about ten-hours, were killed in the early hours today, official sources said.
They said Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a search operation at village Nadpora, Shpoian, in south Kashmir yesterday afternoon following a tip off about the presence of militants there.
However, when the SOG personnel were about to storm that particular house, they came under heavy fire from the militants.
Reinforcement was rushed to the area from nearby security force camps and cordoned off the house, after the civilian in nearby houses were taken to safer places.
They said at 0330 hrs this morning, security forces stormed the house and killed both the militants, identified as HM commander Aijaz and Janbaz.
Two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
