Students developed innovative car

Karkala (Karnataka)June 15 (UNI) Four students of the mechanical department of NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte have created sensation by inventing a new and innovative car, which sans gear, accelerator or brake pedal.

The newly invented car named as 'Joy Stick car' was developed by a team of four students. Mohammed Suheb, Sayyed Jasim, Rachan M Satischandra and Mohsin Ahmed Khateeb with the conceived idea of "Make a car and drive it like a plane".

The main feature of this new car is to drive a car single handedly by using an all-in-one device Joystick, eliminating steering wheel, accelerator, clutch and brake pedal.

The innovation new car is a two-seater and weighing about 200 kg and can be driven for either side.

The car can be accelerated with the pull on the Joy Stick while push will results in brake effect. Turning of the Joy Stick on left or right side gives the effect of steering on the respective side, the students briefed.

They also said that the car is gear less, self start, reverses, hand brake and is a completely + show stopper+ and also included all basic essentials of a car.

The invention of the students had received the "The Best project Award 2008 in the institute", the beaming students said adding that the project is now under the process of claiming patent.

The students say that the project was taken up under the guidance of Senior Professor Mallikappa, known for his mechanical knowledge and selfless guidance to the students. The students also sincerely acknowledge the encouragement given by the Principal of the Institute S Y Kulkarni,, Head of the Department Dr. Sriram and Chairman of Nitte Education Trust N Vinay Hegde who have supported the project.
