Ahmedabad, Jun 15 (UNI) Heavy rains lashing parts of Gujarat since last 24 hours threw life out of gear today even as the toll in rain-related incidents rose to seven.
A youth was electrocuted in Surat last evening, police said.
Heavy rains were also reported in the Gir forest region, but no loss of wildlife was reported.
Kutch received moderate to heavy rainfalls during last 24 hours.
Kandla port was inundated with 350 mm rains in seven hours.
Gandhidham and Anjar cities of Kutch received 250 mm rains in eight hours. In South Gujarat, Surat received 21.9 mm rains.
In Jamnagar, the rains affected normal life in the entire district. Cases of uprooting of trees and short circuits were reported from many parts of the state.
The Meteorological Department has forecast 'moderate to heavy' isolated showers across Gujarat in the next 24 hours.
The Met Department has also predicted heavy rainfall with thunderstorm and high-speed winds across entire south Gujarat and Saurashtra. They have also warned fishermen against venturing into the open sea.
Brief spells of showers with thunderstorm are likely to occur in Ahmedabad and North Gujarat. Overcast conditions continued to prevail throughout the day in Ahmedabad city and many parts of the state.
