Four ULFA cadres shot dead in encounter
Tinsukia, Jun 15 (UNI) The anti-Ulfa operation launched by the security forces in Assam continued to meet success as for more cadres were liquidated today taking the toll to twelve in the last one week.
Accoridng to Army sources, their jawans shot dead four senior ULFA cadres of the ''28th battalion'' in upper Assam's Sibsagar district and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition.
The four self-styled lance corporals of the outift were shot dead in an encoutner after the troops cordoned off Kanubari village of Charaideo sub-divison of Sibsagar district along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.
They have been identified as Badal Khargoria, Annie Bauri, Sumit Gohain and Ajit Gogoi. The militants were hardcore and involved in several acts of killing and extortion.
The Army also recovered one AK-56 rifle, one AK-47, a grenade launcher, one M-16 rifle, two other rifles, and more than 500 rounds of live ammunition from the spot.
Meanwhile, three suspected ULFA linkmen were nabbed by the Army today in the same district, official sources said.
The trio was nabbed from Bimalapur under Borhat police station during the Army's stepped up operation in the district. The linkmen have been identified as Bitupan Gogoi, Lakhyajit Gogoi and Lokesh Gogoi.
