Bihar govt to set up 'Super Speciality Eye Hospital' in Patna

Patna, Jun 15 (UNI) In order to provide better eye treatment, the Bihar government has decided to develop Rajender Nagar Government Hospital(RNGH) here into a ''Super Speciality Eye Hospital''.

According to official sources, this was decided in a meeting headed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today.

Speaking to mediapersons after the meeting, State Health Minister Nand Kishore Yadav said people from across the state travel to Delhi, Chennai and Amritsar for eye treatment.

''To provide them better eye care facilities in the state itself the government has decided to develop RNGH, providing all modern medical amenities to the eye patients,'' Mr Yadav said.

He said infrastructure of RNGH would be developed to provide quality based treatment to the patients adding Dr Rajyavardhan Azad, a faculty in All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), New Delhi, also agreed to extend all possible support in executing the vision.

He said the hospital would work as an autonomous unit under an independant director. Six more doctors would be appointed for the hospital and given training by AIIMS based Dr Rajendra Prasad Centre for Opthalmic Sciences, he added.
