AP govt will implement free power, Arogyasri: YSR
Hyderabad, Jun 15 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekahra Reddy today assured that free power to farmers, Rajiv Arogyasri and Rs 2 a kg rice schemes would be implemented on a permanant basis in the state.
According to an official release here, Dr Reddy, who completed his 1,590-km padayatra on the same day in 2003, said the three welfare and development schemes would be implemented continuously.
Stating that his government was striving to remove the regional disparities by taking up several developmental programmes, he said the government would spend Rs 4,300 crore to purchase and supply power during this year.
The government has allocated Rs 6,500 crore for major irrigation, Rs 1.015 crore for major irrigation and Rs 5,500 crore to construct INDIRAMMA houses for poor this year.
The state stood at number one position in implementing the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP) in the country, the Chief Minister claimed.
