Mumbai, Jun 14 (UNI) Veteran actor Shammi Kapoor today gave credit to noted playback singer Mohammed Rafi for the success that he achieved.
''Without Rafi, I would have been incomplete. He was a dear friend of mine and a great human being, who sang for me with great art. I will never forget him,'' said the 'ya hoo' star Shammi Kapoor in his speech after being felicitated by the 10th Osian's Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab cinema.
''I am overwhelmed by the honour that the film festival has bestowed upon me,'' he said.
Shammi also gave credit to other film personalities including S Mukherjee, F C Mehra, Nassir Hussain, Shakti Samanta, Lekh Tandon and many other musicians including Shanker Jaikishen, O P Nayyar and R D Burman.
Aamir Khan, who was also present, said ''Elvis Presley is Hollywood's answer to Shammi Kapoor.'' Lekh Tandon and Shakti Samanta felicitated Mr Kapoor and a host of film dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Osian's chairman Neville Tuli said the Indian cinema is the best link for many people living abroad to keep their links with motherland, while citing his own example.
A replica of the Osianama, the theatre which is going to come up where old Minerva cinema hall existed, was also shown on the occasion.
