SBOP launches smart card in Punjab
Patiala, June 14 (UNI) The State Bank of Patiala (SBOP) today launched the "SBP Smart Card" in Punjab for those who were deprived of banking services so far.
The launching ceremony was held at Chanarthal Kalan village in Fatehgarh Sahib district.
Patiala Divisional Commissioner S K Ahluwalia, SBOP managing director A C Verma and Fatehgarh Sahib Deputy Commissioner Ashok Singla were present on the occasion.
SBP Smart Card aims to fulfill the dream of 100 per cent financial inclusion of under previliged people into the Bank's fold.
Smart Card is a plastic card containing all the information about customer---- name,account number, finger prints as well as balance in account, Mr Verma explained at the launch.
It is easy to use, secured, having low operational cost. The customer need not go to the Bank branch as service is provided at the doorstep, the banks MD stated.
