MUHS celebrates 10th foundation day

Nashik, Jun 14 (UNI) Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) celebrated its 10th foundation day today.

Member of MCI MLL Dr Vasant Pawar was the chief guest of the function whereas MUHS Senate member MLA Shobha Bachhav was the guest of honour. MUHS Vice Chancellor Dr Mrudula Phadke presided over the occasion.

Dr Tatyarao Lahane Chancellor's nominee on the Management Council of the University was felicitated by the University for being awarded with 'Padmashree'.

''Over 80 per cent of India live in rural areas. Serve it. Do not avoid serving in rural areas. You will not get much benefits of it.

Serve people without thinking of material gains,'' Dr Lahane said.

Dr Vasant Pawar congratulated the MUHS people on their 10th foundation day and work done by the University.

Various awards were given on the occasion. Overall 38 gold medals and 147 certificates were given to students on the occasion.

Col Dr Rajesh Bhalwar of Ahmed forces Medical college, Pune won the Dr Sharadini Dahanukar best teacher award whereas, Divya Bajpayee of Seth G S Medical college Mumbai won the Best Student Award for the year 2007-08.

Girish Bhoware of Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences Sevagram Wardha won the best sports teacher award. D Kawale (medical faculty) of M Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences Sevagram Wardha Pallavi Metlaro (Ayurved) of S V H trust Ayurved Mahavidylaya Rahuri and Tracy Mathew (Allied faculty) of NDMVP's college of Nursing, Nashik were adjudged as the Best Sports persons of this year.
