Mumbai, Jun 14 (UNI) MLWB experienced mixed fortunes in the Kanji Memorial Junior Inter Club Badminton Tournament, hosted and organised by Matunga Gymkhana, that got under way here today.
MLWB 'A' kicked off their campaign with an impressive 3-0 win over Thakur Sports Club, Kandivili after winning their singles and doubles ties.
But Navi Mumbai Sports Association, Vashi spoiled MLWB's party when they beat the 'B' team by a similar margin.
Shreyas Krishnamurty clinched the opening boys' under-16 singles, but not before enduring a challenge in a tight second game that stretched over extra points. State under-13 shuttler Vaishnavi Patil later swelled the tally to 2-0 after beating Reema Palekar 21-8, 21-14 in the second girls' under-16 singles.
Later, Krishnamurthy teamed up with Abhishek Kulkarni to seal the match with a close 21-16, 21-19 win over Sudeep Sopankar and Sidhesh Raut in the boys under-19 doubles.
