Kerala govt reaches agreement on medical fees, quota
Thiruvananthapuram, June 14 (UNI) The Kerala government today reached an agreement with the Kerala Self-Financing Medical College Managements' Association on fee structure and admission quota.
The government signed the agreement fixing 50:50 ratio for government and management seats, state Education Minister M A Baby told mediapersons after discussions with the association.
For the Government seats, the fees had been fixed at Rs 45,000 with no deposit. Out of the 50 per cent of the management seats, the fees for 35 per cent seats had been fixed at Rs 5.5 lakh and Rs 5.5 lakh as refundable deposit. For the remaining 15 per cent seats earmarked for NRIs, the fees had been fixed at Rs 9 lakh with no deposit.
The six medical colleges that reached the agreement with the government were Karuna Medical College, Palakkad, Kannur Medical College, Dr Sommerwell Memorial CSI Medical College, Karakonam, MES Medical College, Perinthalmmana, SUT Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram and Sri Gokulam Medical College, Venjarammooddu.
The agreement would be sent to the Law department and the P A Mohammed Committee and a final agreement would be signed only after their approval.
