Ahmedabad, Jun 14 (UNI) Heavy rains claimed four lives in Kutch during last 24 hours.
Saurashtra and South Gujarat had received heavy rains since yesterdau. Clouds over Ahmedabad and parts of North and Central Gujarat caused intermittent mild showers.
Two young boys drowned in a pond in Shirva-Kathada village in Mandavi. The pond was overflowing due to heavy downpour.
In another incident, a father-son duo died when lightning struck them in Mokhana village of Bhuj taluka. All parts of Kutch have received heavy rains. Port town of Mandavi in Kutch had received around 300 mm of rains in last 24 hours.
Heavy rains were recorded in almost entire Saurashtra. Three dams in Jamnagar -- Sapada, Ruparod and Vadisang -- were overflowing since this morning due to heavy downpour. Rajkot had received 75 mm rains during the day. Saurashtra had received average 50 to 125 mm of rains in last 24 hours.
In South Gujarat, Surat, Bharuch, Choryasi and other areas had received heavy rains. Surat received 200 mm rains in last 24 hours.
Heavy rains had caused water-logging in low-lying areas. Many schools were closed in Rajkot and some parts of Saurashtra and Kutch.
