Shillong, Jun 14 (UNI) The BSF's 83rd battalion has seized huge quantities of tiger and stag skins and horns while they were being smuggled out to Bangladesh from the Barsora Border Outpost in Meghalaya.
BSF sources said here today that the Special Operations Party of the border guards sighted a miscreant trying to cross over to the neighbouring country from the Indian border yesterday.
Immediately, the BSF personnel confronted the smuggler but he managed to escape taking advantage of the inhospitable terrain, leaving behind the smuggled goods.
Later, after conducting search operations, the BSF patrol party recovered 2,100 grams of tiger skins, 900 grams of stag skins, two stag horns and 1,050 grams wild cord fish, the sources added.
