Punjab to promote disaster management practices in public
Chandigarh, Jun 13 (UNI) The Punjab Government will launch a campaign to raise awareness among common people about disaster management practices in the state.
Punjab Financial Commissioner (Revenue) Romila Dubey, who held a meeting of senior officers of departments concerned to discuss various aspects of implementing the campaign effectively, said through this awareness campaign the general public would be educated on how to protect themselves from floods, fire incidents and earthquakes.
To launch the campaign effectively short documentary films would be shown in cinema halls and on local TV channels in each district.
Besides, and booklets, posters and pamphlets would also be distributed at the grassroots level he said.
He said seminars would be organised in ten colleges and competitions, mock drills and safety programmes would be organised in 20 schools, one in each district.
