Police take custody of Bangali in Mahesh Bhatt firing case
Mumbai, Jun 13 (UNI) Crime Branch of city police today took custody of sharp-shooter Sadik Ismail Bangali, wanted in connection with firing at film producer Mahesh Bhatt in 2006, from Navi Mumbai Police.
Bangali was recently arrested by Navi Mumbai police in some other case.
Later in the day, he was produced before Maharashtra Control for Organised Crime Act court Judge Vinay Joshi, who remanded him to police custody till June 26.
According to Police, Bangali was prime accused in the case, as he had allegedly fired two rounds of fire inside filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt's office here in 2006. After the firing, gangster Ravi Poojari had claimed that his cronies had fired at Bhatt's office.
Police had arrested seven associates of Poojari gang in this case earlier, who were later acquitted by the Sessions Court due to lack of evidence against them.
