Maj Gen Dhingra, wife's murderers get death sentence

Panchkula, Jun 13 (UNI) A lower court awarded death penalty to two servants for battering to death Maj Gen (Rtd) K C Dhingra and his wife Sangeeta here last year.

Additional District and Sessions judge Dr Shiva Sharma sentenced Anand Keedo and Rajan Gaur to death while Anand's wife Sandhya was sentenced to four years imprisonment on the charges of being a party to the conspiracy of murder that took place on May 13 last year.

The court had pronounced the trio guilty in the case yesterday and reserved the judgement for today.

Maj Gen Dhingra and his wife were hammered to death by their servants and two accomplices on the intervening night of May 12-13, 2007 in their rented bungalow in sector 25 here.

The crime could be discovered only after a couple of days when the police entered the residence on the complaint of neighbours about foul smell.

The Chandi Mandir police had nabbed Anand and Rajan from Ahmedabad in Gujarat on June 4 last year while Sandhya was arrested on June 12.

One more accused in the double murder, Ajit Toppee is still at large and has been declared ''proclaimed offender'' by the police.
