Heritage circuit, tourism corridor in AP Dists

Tirupati, Jun 13: A heritage circuit and tourism corridor will be developed shortly by linking 19 significant historical and religious places in Chittoor and Nellore Districts of Andhra Pradesh to protect religious and heritage sites, Tirupati MP Chinta Mohan said here today.

Investments to the tune of approximately Rs 1,500 crore was required for developing the heritage circuit for which Rs 2,326.25 lakh was released as the first installment,he told a press conference here.

The second and final installment would be released only after reviewing the progress of the project which would be commissioned in 18 months. Any cost escalation due to delay would be met by the State Government, he said.

Eleven cultural and historical places, including Chandragiri Fort and Sri Varasidhi Vinayaka Swamy Temple in Chittoor District and eight places in Nellore District have been indentified for inclusion in the circuit project.
