Bangalore, Jun 13 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has released Rs 200 crore for road development works in 114 Backward taluks in the state, Public Works Minister C M Udasi said.

Addressing newspersons here today, he said the special grant would be spent only for road works in these taluks as the condition of roads was bad.

During President's rule, Rs 125 crore was released to take up road works in rural areas and the present allocation would be in addition to the earlier grants, he added.

The Minister said the state government had a proposal to build toll roads between Bellary-Mangalore and Bellary-Karwar where large number of heavy-duty trucks carrying iron ore and manganese ore were plying, leading to damage for roads.

The minister informed that the state government had released Rs 75 crore towards the completion of High Court Bench buildings at Dharwad and Gulburga. The two buildings were being constructed at a cost of Rs 115 and Rs 101 crore, respectively.
