Chief Minister invites Gurung on June 18, GJM to decide today
Kolkata, Jun 13 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today invited Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) president Bimal Gurung for talks at the Writers Buildings here on June 18.
State Secretariat sources said the Chief Minister invited the GJM president and his representatives to discuss about the problems in Darjeeling hills.
However, the latest invitation indicated that the government had not invited the GJM for the all-party meeting scheduled on June 17.
A report from Darjeeling said the GJM was convening a central committee meeting after receiving the Chief Minister's invitation.
GJM publicity secretary Binoy Tamang said Mr Gurung called the central committee meeting to decide on whether to participate in the Writers Buildings meeting.
Mr Gurung yesterday said the GJM was ready to participate in the all-party meeting called by the state government on June 17, if invitation came from the government.
Mr Tamang said the outcome of the GJM meeting would be announced at a news conference later today.
