3 injured by IRB personnel
Itanagar, Jun 13 (UNI) More than three people were injured when Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel allegedly opened fire on a mob at Daporijo, the headquarters of Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Daporijo Superintendent of Police (SP) Mari Riba told UNI today that a skirmish broke out between the public and a few IRB personnel last evening, when the personnel, deployed for Panchayat elections duty, allegedly manhandled a few people near its temporary camp.
The mob attacked the police and police station, including the IRB personnel, besides setting ablaze a bus and destroying a few police vehicles, the SP said.
The mob also went on rampage destroying public property, he added.
The injured were immediately shifted to the district hospital where the condition of a person who sustained multiple bullet injuries was stated to be critical, he informed.
Meanwhile, the district administration made adequate security arrangements to prevent any untoward incident, he added.
