Silver improves, gold declines: BBA

Mumbai, Jun 12: A mixed trend was observed in the precious metals today, as silver improving by Rs 50 per kg on better buying support, while gold further declined by Rs 15 per ten gm from their last close owing to thin buying support, in the opening session, traders at the Bombay Bullion Association said here.

Silver (999 finesses grade) opened at Rs 23,960 per kg, while standard mint gold and pure gold opened at Rs 12,105 and Rs 12,160 per ten gm respectively. In London gold was recorded low at USD 870.00/871.00 an ounce from USD 874.00/875.00, while silver rose to USD 16.68/16.69 an ounce from USD 16.61/16.62. Following were the opening spot rates: Silver (per kg) 999 fineness grade: Rs 23,960 Gold (per 10 gm): 99.5 purity standard mint: Rs 12,105 99.9 purity pure gold: Rs 12,160
