Seized explosives to hand over Army
Chennai, Jun 12 (UNI) The unexploded shells and rockets seized from a metal scrap at the SIPCOT industrial estate in Gummidipoondi recently would be handed over to the Army for destroying them.
About 25 kg of discarded bullets and shells, and another 125 kg of shells and grenade were seized by the police after two boys were injured in a blast inside the industrial estate.
According to official sources here today, the 'Q' branch and commando school personnel would examine these ammunitions, which could not be used further, but could cause explosions if they were melted for making metal rods.
They would submit their report to the State DGP after which the seized ammunitions would be sent to the Army so that they could be destroyed.
