Baripada, Jun 13 (UNI) Mayurbhanj police have nabbed six inter-state gang of dacoits and recovered Rs 4,78,412 from places in West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and Orissa.
Mayurbhanj Superintendent of Police Dayal Gangwar said here today that three separate teams of police officers rushed to different directions and was able to achieve success within fifteen days from the occurrence of the bank robbery on May 27 at Betnoti, about 28 kms from Baripada.
Mr Gangwar said the teams recovered cash to the tune of Rs,3,78,412 yesterday morning. Last night the police could recover another one lakh bringing the total recovery to Rs.4,78,412.
The SP said this was perhaps for the first time in Orissa that an inter-state gang of bank dacoits operating in four states could be nabbed swiftly and a major part of the money looted recovered.
The Police are still continuing its efforts to recover more in the next few days, he stated.
The arrested have been identified.
Besides cash, police have also seized three countrymade pistols, 17 rounds of live cartridges, three mobile phones, two motor cycles and one pick-up van.
Sources said this inter-state gang might have some links in similar bank dacoities in the state or in the neighbouring states.
