'Pig-heart' doc adds 25 years to Assam MP's life
Guwahati, Jun 12 (UNI) Controversial 'pig-heart' doctor Dhaniram Baruah today claimed that Assam Congress MP Kirip Chaliha has become 25 years younger after undergoing treatment under him, with Mr Chaliha present beside Dr Baruah to support it.
"Mr Chaliha is now 25 years younger after he had undergone treatment at my hospital," Dr Baruah, who rose to public eye following his experiment of substituting a human heart with that of a pig in the 90s, said before reporters here.
The MP, who sat beside Dr Baruah during the press conference, said he felt much better and was satisfied with the treatment. He, however, refused to disclose the nature of his ailment for which he had approached the controversial doctor.
Dr Baruah also introduced another patient, Sanjib Baruah, who had recovered from lung cancer under him after other famous hospitals had forsaken the case. Sanjib was gifted with a car and a plot of land near Dr Baruah's research centre and he would also venture to scale the Mount Everest to put Dr Baurah in the spotlight.
Dr Baruah, who runs a research centre and hospital on the fringes of Guwahati, had been shrouded in controversies due to his claims of evolving cure for hitherto non-curable diseases and experimentations with the human body.
The Assam government had also threatened of legal action against him on the grounds that Dr Baruah did not proceed through conventional practice to get his medicines and procedures certified.
Dr Baruah said he was preparing a presentation of his works to submit before the Central government, if needed.
