Chandigarh, Jun 12 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to extend the One Time Settlement Scheme for exemption of penalty and interest amount on the arrears of House Tax in all the Municipal Committees and Municipal Councils in the state up to June 30.

The scheme is also applicable in case of House Tax as well as the water charges in the Municipal Corporation, Faridabad, a spokesman for the Haryana Urban Local Bodies Department said today.

The decision to extend the scheme had been taken in view of the overwhelming response of the people to the scheme.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had announced 'One Time Settlement Scheme' to waive off surcharge on the arrears of House Tax and Water Charges in all the municipal areas of the state.

Under the scheme, the entire surcharge, interest or penalty is being waived off in case consumers deposit the actual amount of House Tax and Water Charges in lump sum or in installments.

By extending the scheme, the state government was providing another opportunity to the left out people of urban areas to avail the benefit of the scheme, he added.
