Ahmedabad, Jun 12 (UNI) Consequent to the breach in Narmada Canal in north Gujarat, Chief Minister Narendra Modi has ordered a high power technical probe into it.
The breach in the canal yesterday had marooned six villages and flooded thousands of hectares of land in Kadi taluka.
Announcing the decision of the Chief Minister, the government spokesperson Jai Narayan Vyas said the government had also decided to undertake technical survey of the entire canal from the dam site to the Rajasthan border.
He claimed that this was the pro-active approach of the state government to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future.
Mr Vyas said a survey of the affected persons would be undertaken soon and they would be given assistance.
He said the six villages that were affected by the breach of the canal were Sujatpura, Todmalpura, Bavjipura, Narsinhpura, Nani kadi and Balasan.
However, life in these villages was gradually returning to normal since last night.
Water in these villages had already receded and people were returning to their homes.
